Gov. Jon Corzine remained busy as ever earlier this with his waning-days blizzard of appointments -- really, at this point, you can't call them a flurry any more.
The latest batch of 82 appointments was announced Tuesday, a couple of hours after his State of the State speech. They include 59 new appointments (skewed a bit higher because 17 were to a new panel on funding for nonpublic schools Corzine recently created) and 23 reappointments. Of the 82, 33 are to the Martin Luther King Jr. Commission.
Here are a few of the more recognizable political names from the group:
- Michellene Davis of West Orange, who is Corzine's chief policy counsel, to the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority. She used to be the acting treasurer and used to direct the state lottery. The post pays $18,000.
- Department of Children & Families Commissioner Kimberly Ricketts of Highland Park to the Council on Local Mandates. Pays $150 per meeting day. She's among the first Cabinet officers being let go by the Christie administration.
- Camden Mayor Dana Redd, a former state senator, to the State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners. Pays $100 per full day of service.
- Alderman James Visioli of Dover in Morris County to the Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council
- Camden County Freeholder Riletta Cream to the MLK Commission
- Steve Goldstein of Teaneck, the leader of gay-rights organization Garden State Equality, to the New Jersey Israel Commission
- Bill Collins of Laurel Springs, a Democrat whose loss in the 4th District race for Assembly last year marked the only seat to flip parties, reappointed to the Board of Trustees for the Camden County Health Services Center
- Richard McClellan, a former Mercer County Democratic chairman, to the Mandated Health Benefits Advisory Commission
